INTERVIEW WITH ELKAPATH

Dina Cvek Zubaj

When was the band founded? Share with us some stories regarding your background and beginnings.

Elkapath started in 2004 as a solo project by Carla. Carla wanted to develop the sound so in 2018 she started to get other musicians involved. In 2019 Elkapath had it’s first full band line up and performed a number of shows. The line up has changed a couple of times since to where it now is.

When Carla first started producing her own material, the music had very electronic, underground, goth vibe. The expansion of becoming a full band has developed that sound;introducing guitar riffs, bass lines and drums from various styles of metal.

You recently released a single from your upcoming album. Tell us more about that and about the album.

“Black Spiders" is the name of the single and it is the title track of the album. The album “Black Spiders" is being released on October 31st 2021 (naturally it had to be Halloween!) through Symmetric Records.

It is the debut album for Elkapath (as a full band) and we're really excited about it. We've teamed up with Bob Katsionis at Symmetric Records and he's done a great job at bringing the album to life.

“Black Spiders" is a 10 track album and contains a wide mix of various genres. We believe that there is something in there for everyone to enjoy!

How was 2020 for you?

It was different not being and to get out and play shows and due to lockdown it limited what we could do at the start of the year. However it have us time to make some solid plans and changes (including bringing AJ Marios and Chaotic Chris in the band).

As we couldn't get out and play any shows, we focused on writing material and recording the album “Black Spiders". We managed to turn what was quite a negative year at first into a very strong positive for us.

Have you had any live concerts yet?

Because of the lockdown situation we were in here in the UK, many gigs and shows were cancelled in 2020 and it wasn't until Summer this year that music venues could start holding gigs again. So because of that we haven't played a live show in our current line up, however we have got a number of gigs lined up to see out 2021 and already have some bookings for next year.

What do you have in mind for the future? What can we expect in 2022?

We are looking forward to playing many shows and touring the “Black Spiders" album, we already have a couple of festivals that have booked us to play.

We have also got other singles lined up to be released and we've already started writing new songs ready for our next album.

Is there something you are willing to share with your fans and the public in general?

We hope that everyone enjoys our album as much as we did writing and recording it. We can't wait to start playing live shows.

Please support your local bands and venues! The pandemic has had a massive impact on the music industry; for venues and bands alike all across the world.

We do what we do because we love it and we want to share it with as many people as we can – we hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for your time and cheers from Croatia!

Thank you for inviting us to take part. I hope we will speak again when we release our next album!
